On Tap is brought to you by Rosati’s Pizza, 701 S. Gregory, Urbana.

This time around it’s a special On Site On Tap.  On Wednesday, I was in Indianapolis at the tapping of the keg for the official beer of GenCon, Flagon Slayer, from Sun King Brewery.  Very fun event, very cool folks, and very fun time.

The line for Flagon Slayer

Ryan and Shane couldn’t make it over, but I did meet up with Clay, Co-Founder of Sun King Brewery to talk about the Official GenCon beer they brewed up, Flagon Slayer.

Sun King Keg Van

Flagon Slayer is a really unique beer.  It’s an old school brew called a braggot.  It’s basically a blend of honeyed mead and ale, but the folks at Sun King do it up right.  It’s sweet, due to the honey, plus they added cherries for some fruit essence, color and sweetness, some malt and hops.  It’s sweet but crisp with some unique flavor notes in there.

Clay thought this would pair great with a salad with goat cheese and chicken.  Now it may have been the heat of the moment, but I gave it a 10.  Flagon Slayer.  Good stuff.
