On Tap 5/9/14 Rogue VooDoo Doughnut

Rosatis

On Tap is brought to you by Rosati’s Pizza, 701 S. Gregory, Urbana.

We had a full house this week.  Shane, Ryan, DJ Squish and I were joined by WCIA 3 Chief Meteorologist, Derick Fabert.  Derick stopped by to help us with this weeks brew, VooDoo Doughnut inspired Pretzel, Raspberry, and Chocolate Ale from Rogue.

Hey, I like doughnuts, I like beer.  I thought this should be interesting at best.  And it was.  We all assumed it was going to be a bit over the top with the flavors, but it wasn’t.  The most prevelant taste up front for me was the chocolate.  But then, once I started eating our food pairing (which I’ll get to in a minute) then the raspberry and the chocoalte really came to the front.  Unique beer.  Solid.  Not an every day drinker, but for a theme party or special occasion, give this big pink bottle a try.

Ratings:

Me:  6.0

Ryan:  5.7

DJ Squish:  6.0

Shane:  5.1

Derick:  6.0

Shane brought in two very different foods that both worked well together with this beer for different reasons.  First up was the spicy item.  Shane brought in an italian beef pizza with sausage and bacon with a bbq sauce with giardiniera thrown in for a bit of heat.  But he also brought in cannoli’s that went well in a different way.  The sweet really works with this beer, but differently as well.

Over all, definitely worth a shot.

WATCH: 10 best ‘Simpsons’ episodes

In this photo released by Fox, Homer explains why he wants to bring back the annual 4th of July fireworks display, after it's cancelled for budget reasons, in the "Yellow Badge of Cowardge" Season Finale episode of "The Simpsons," in May 2014. The full 25-year run of "The Simpsons" will arrive on cable channel FXX with a summer marathon, to be paired this fall with a digital extravaganza that could turn other TV shows yellow with envy. "I'm not going to over-promise, but I think this website will provide you with affordable health care," longtime "Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean told a TV critics' meeting Monday, July 21, 2014.

The recent marathon of all 552 episodes of "The Simpsons" inspired us to sit down and come up with our 10 favorite episodes. Enjoy!
