Rosatis

On Tap is brought to you by Rosati’s Pizza, 701 S. Gregory, Urbana.

This week the crew test drove Apri-Hop from Dogfish Head.  This is one of the first beers we’ve had in where half of us already were familiar with it.  Shane and DJ Squish had tried it and already professed their fanhood for this little brew.  Ryan and I hadn’t tried it before, and this would be my first time with an apricot infused beer.

The jury was split on this one.  Ryan and I expected to get more apricot flavor than this delivered.  This was a decent little IPA, but we both felt it lacked in the apricot department.  Shane and Squish, who love IPAs, thought this was right on.  Neither one of them like sweet or fruity beers, so this was perfect for them.  And it showed in the ratings.

Shane:  8.0

DJ Squish:  7.1

Me:  5.5

Ryan:  5.0

Shane’s pairing this week was spot on.  A buffalo burger.  That’s their cheese burger swimming in buffalo sauce.  The meatiness and spiciness played really well with this beer.

Bottom line: if you’re looking for an IPA with a little bit of a different bent, this could work.  If you’re looking for a boldly flavored apricot beer, this isn’t the one.
