As we venture past the halfway point in our Cider Fest, things start to get a bit drinky, but we manage to keep it on the air. Our third cider is from Thistly Cross Cider, and it’s their Whiskey Cask Cider. The one clocks in at 6.9% ABV. Normally, I shy away from the Cask aged brews, because I’m not a fan of boozey-ness and Ryan gravitates towards them. This one had the opposite effect on us. Ryan felt the boozey-ness faded after a few sips and he wanted more, and I liked the subdued flavor the whiskey cask added. Shane and Squish both were digging the vibe on this one. I’ll point out that as we move through these ciders, they get less and less sweet, which may explain Shane and Squish growing to like each one better. (Or it could be everyone was feeling a bit more happy as we went.)
Everyone was digging on this but Ryan, and I see his point. Oh, I forgot, one of the things Ryan paired with the cider was Rosati’s Fettuccini Alfredo, with some BBQ sauce from the pork sandwich over the top. I have to say, that’s a nice little flavor right there. You’ll have to ask for BBQ on the side, but I say it’s worth it.
So far, this was everyone’s favorite but Ryan.
