Today we get in the Summer Fair vibe with Chickawawa Lemon Ale from Great River Brewery.  Admittedly, I went in to this one thinking I wouldn’t like it much.  I had visions of a fair ground lemon shake up with some boozey, sort of beer flavor.  What I got was a crisp, smooth, not too sweet, lemon ale.  Unlike the traditional Summer Shandy, which is beer with lemon in it, this was more of a lemon ade with beer in it… And it worked really well.  This thing just screams Summer time, picnics, family gatherings.  And at 5% ABV you could spend an afternoon with this one and feel ok about everything.  And oddly enough, Shane and DJ Squish liked it as well.

Me:  7.5
Shane: 8.0
Squish: 7.25

Shane brought in some spicy food, which was awesome, but it just didn’t go with this beer.  He then suggested a good Summer  Salad.  Lots of greens, berries, a light vinegrette, and you’re good to go.

Sure, this might fit into your “girly” drinks, but try it.  I think you’ll be surprised.
