On Tap 8/8/14: Black House

Call it nostalgia for wanting to be on vacation again, but this week we’re drinking Black House from Modern Times in San Diego.  This is labeled as a “Coffee-Roasty Stout”.  And it lives up to it’s name.  This is a really smooth stout.  I got more chocolate flavor than coffee out of this one, but man was it good.  Rich, smooth, and just plain delicious.

DJ Squish loves stouts, coffee and chocolate and she absolutely loved this one.  In her words, this had the flavor of real coffee as opposed to just a coffee flavor if that makes sense.   And it should, since Modern Times roasts their own beans.

Shane said it smells like breakfast and tastes like happy hour.  No arguments here.

We loved this beer.  And we loved the Sausage sandwich Shane brought in to pair with this.  The spiciness of the giarninara and onions and sausage works great with this creamy brew.

We liked this a lot.  (And I want to go back to San Diego…)
