This is a special Pre-On Tap edition. Last week I had the chance to head to New Orleans for a little Pre-Mardi Gras action, and I sat down with Kirk Coco, the President of Nola Brewing. I didn’t know a ton about Nola before I went down, but I knew this, they had brewery tours every Friday and I knew I had to get in on that.
After being there in person and talking with Kirk and a bunch of the Nola crew, I can tell you this: When ever you go to New Orleans, Nola Brewing needs to be on your list of places to go. Seriously. It’s an awesome tour, the beer is amazing, and the folks there are just plain cool. (If they’re still doing it you have to try their Swamp Grape Escape. A cool little number they brewed up with the folks at New Belgium. Also, they had a Breakfast Brown that rocked out loud. And Hopitoulas… whatever you drink, you’re gonna dig it.)
Kirk and I talked about how Nola started, the state of craft brewing in New Orleans and the country, his favorite beers, Nola’s beers and maybe even a lawsuit or two.
